Halloween Safety Tips – MCR Group
With Halloween approaching, we thought it would be an ideal opportunity to share some tips and advice for keeping you and your loved ones safe:
1- Costumes can be both creative and safe. Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.
2- Cross the street safely at corners, using traffic signals. Look right, left and right again when crossing and keep looking as you cross.
3- Put electronic devices down, keep heads up and walk, don’t run, when crossing the street.
4- Walk on paths. If there are no paths, walk facing traffic as far to the right as possible.
5- Slow down and stay alert. Watch out for cars that are turning or backing up and don’t dart out into the street or cross in between parked cars.
6- Keep your pets safe inside: Before the trick-or-treating starts, put your pets in a quiet room where they will be safe from all the Halloween activity.
7- Driving around on Halloween: Slowdown in residential neighbourhoods. Remember that popular trick-or-treating hours are 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
8- Be especially alert and take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and on curbs. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.
Keep these safety tips in mind this Halloween, and have fun.
